World of 100 People

Got a very interesting website, http://100people.org .. They have explain in most simple way possible the statistical analysis of our world. How easy it becomes when you know 26% of 7 billion world population is of children, and 8% have spend 65 years of their life. 83% of world population is literate and 13% has no access to clean water. 75% are cell phone users and 22% don't even have electricity access.

So here is some detail of this World Population 100 statistics:

If the World were 100 PEOPLE:
50 would be female and 50 would be male

26 would be children
There would be 74 adults, 8 of whom would be 65 and older

There would be:
60 Asians
15 Africans
14 people from the Americas
11 Europeans

33 Christians
22 Muslims
14 Hindus
7 Buddhists
12 people who practice other religions
12 people who would not be aligned with a religion

12 would speak Chinese
5 would speak Spanish
5 would speak English
78 would speak other languages

83 would be able to read and write; 17 would not

7 would have a college degree
22 would own or share a computer

77 people would have a place to shelter them
from the wind and the rain, but 23 would not

1 would be dying of starvation
15 would be undernourished
21 would be overweight

87 would have access to safe drinking water
13 people would have no clean, safe water to drink
76 eligible males would have a primary school education
72 eligible females would have a primary school education
51 would be urban dwellers and 49 would be rural dwellers
48 would live on less than $2 USD per day
1 out of 2 children would live in poverty
78 would have electricity and 22 would not
65 would have improved sanitation
16 would have no toilets
19 would have unimproved toilets
75 would be cell phone users
30 would be active internet users
22 would own or share a computer

How interesting these stats are when put together, though they are alarming and eye opener for world leaders world over who spend billions and billions of dollars on security where they can spend just millions to get much bigger impact fact than landing their armies in someone's sovereign state.
