I wonder how they want us to do enough?
After 9/11, there was a continuous debate among intellectuals here in Pakistan whether to declare this Afghan war against Taliban and al-Qaeda as ours or keep our distance from it. I was of option earlier, it was not our war - the mess is created by America and it should be solely its responsibility to clean this up.
Unfortunately, we had two terrible incidents in month of May, first of Osama bin Laden's presence in Abbottabad and then attack on Pakistan Navy base in Karachi. Of course, many would argue how could Osama be in Abbottabad - living so near to PMA Kakul and without coming into ISI or other intelligence agencies radar. Yes, there is a possibility some elements might be helping in his 5 years presence there but in general, we must understand... after this bloodshed, many in Pakistan stopped backing Osama and so as America as it keeps on violating our airspace.
I'm personally least bother, if Osama was there or not? I just don't want to get myself into this debate... For me, being a Pakistan - the one who thinks he is a die-hard Pakistani, a nationalist - who've been supporting Army, our institutions from day1, can't undertake this predicament that we can't do anything if someone violates our airspace or land from western borders. Give me break - we're a nation of 180 million people and we can't do anything... Yes, maybe we can't as our politicians and Armed officers are more concerned about their children future in abroad then of 80 million young Pakistanis living in Pakistan - I will come to this point some other day.
The 2nd incident was attack on PNS base in Karachi, they took down two of most expensive spy planes P-3C and guess what like every bad boy in classroom - TTP declared they're responsible. Just to recap for those who don't know about TTP involvement in Pakistan... they're doing everything which could help our border enemies to laugh on us.
You know what is the solution of both problems? if someone ask me for one-single solution... I would say, fire the top lots - we should at least first 50+ people from junior most military officier to senior most. This would've been the clear message for all, that if Americans can find Osama here and if few TTP members can invade a base then we should better not have them.

I agree with you...but have you ever questioned that why your society is in shambles....taseer,shazad,minority minister.....inki aahen khali nahin jayengi.......not a single big scientist has come from muslim community...becos the moment you start questioning kuran.....you are killed.....just introspect....islam is followed by iran iraq egypt and other states as well ...look how peaceful they are ....but wahabism version of islam will take you to medieval ages..why army is ruling you till date ..becos you are interested in non sensical shero shayari...ek din ki zindagi...and what not...if you are so fond of dying then please die and let the world live in peace
But everyone who is running these jahadi organization, they generally represent one sect or another of Islam, don't you think we need to either blame Islam or people who are justifying this aspect of indescrimenate killing of all Pakistanis? and see all the trouble you see int this word is from people either living in Muslim country or some how affiliated with Muslim jihadi organizations...
I agree with you.... but the problem lies here is that our own people don't know to handle this disastrous scenario.Time comes now and we have to take a active decision whether to walk with America or not.I would personally believe that this war creates haphazard situations to all of the Muslim countries and the major reason is America. At the end i must say we are the people (Pakistani)who can fight against terrorism and change the present situation of the country.
@ Anonymous 1: Well, Islamic history is full of scientist, scholars, philosophers etc. Actually, if you look at the early medicine, chemistry, astronomy or any other branch of science, you will see Muslim contributed in its origin. Our civilization was more advanced and upright than anybody else at that time. The problem with Muslim culture started when they promoted Jihad only with sword, in fact... Islam says bigger Jihad is with self not with Sword. Secondly, we need to encourage tolerance and education among our children. Islam encourages to live life for others and now just look at Pakistan - everyone wants to live for himself as if there is no one else.
@ Asii: our people do know how to handle their bad situation... look at earthquake or flood times or even war-times in 1965, 1971 and later on Kargil - it is just that people don't trust their leadership now and why shouldn't they? And I'm not of those people who would blame America for every wrong doing. Well, I am responsible of managing my own house - how could I blame my neighbor child if my son fails in exam.
Yes agreed to what you said above but i would to like highlight some keys points here ....Leadership needs to follow the right path and In order to strengthen the dismal conditions of the country, they Should not get help from America or any other funding institutions like IMF. Leaders who led the feeble skeleton of Pakistan’s politics crippled the state by implementing economic reforms of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank. By meeting their conditions, they have become powerless, as West has been using them for their own interests. The involvement of West in policy making has blemished the concept of transparency, accountability and fair decisions in state
affairs. Thus, corrupt ruling class dare to govern the state. Whereas, the military intervention in politics has been impediment in institution building because of fragile civil rule.
This is disastrous.
